SP Approves DOH-R8’s MOA For Hospital Improvements Worth P10M Plus

Maasin City, Southern Leyte-The Sangguniang Panlalawigan has approved the Memorandum of Agreement(MOA)from the Department of Health-Regional Office for the infrastructures and medical equipments support for the two Southern Leyte District Hospitals worth P10,168,000.00.
This was revealed during the SP’s recent session held at the provincial capitol here. The two District Hospitals that were recipients of these particular projects were Anahawan District Hospital located in the Pacific towns’ area and Pintuyan District Hospital located in the Panaon Island.
SP Roberto Lagumbay, Chairman Committee on Health and Sanitations, has moved for the approval of the DOH’s MOA between the province of Southern Leyte and DOH-R8 and authorizing the Governor to sign it.
Anahawan has a total funds of P6M.The P3M is for infra structures and P3M for medical equipments. While the Pintuyan District Hospital has a total aid of P4,168,000.00.The P2M is for the infra and the remaining P2,168,00.00 is for medical equipments.
However, re-electionist Governor–elect Damian Mercado requested the members of the Provincial Board to make amendments of the DOH‘s MOA. This is to take out P2M funds from the Anahawan District Hospitals’ P3M for infra. It will be added as additional funds to buy the hospital’s equipments for a total of P5M instead of the original plan of P3M.
Vice-Governor Miguel Maamo,11 instructed the administrative office where the Governor has coursed his request, to make the necessary correction of the said MOA. He also advised DOH representative Dr. Feliciano John Matibag to “refine the MOA”.
Dr. Matibag, who could provide specific details for the infrastructures and medical equipments for the aforementioned District Hospitals, was on leave and not available for interview.
Dr.Joselito P. Trumata, Integrated Provincial Hospital Office head, who is equally knowledgeable about the DOH-R8 envolment for the projects’ funding, has provided for the related informations. He told LSDE that the Anahawan District Hospital infra projects were the constructions of Out-Patient Department building and the morgue, and the renovation of the Isolation Ward. The medical equipments that were already available at the hospital were of various kinds, he said.
For the Pintuyan District Hospital’s infra project, he said, is the current renovation of the entire hospital building plus supply of different medical equipments. He added that Hinunangan District Hospital’s building was also undergoing renovation.(Quirico M. Gorpido,Jr.)
